Memória Lúcia - Exposição de Pauline Zenk - PROMOCIONAL

The title “Memoria Lucida” means “lucid memory”and refers to Roland Barthes book: “Camera Lucida”. The works were based on family photographs collected from fleamarkets and archives. The drawings represented loosely connected to the desire to undo the sterility and objectification of persons in photographs as described by Barthes. The thematic of this exhibition was conceptually closely connected to Aleida Assmanns description of “unframed photographs” and the artistic practice in creatively re-creating past moments and histories. Its main theoretical approach is close to the aesthetic biography research theory and the artistic work with public archives. The exhibition took place from the 18th of September till the 12th of October 2014 in the Museum for History of Santa Catarina, the Palace Cruz e Sousa in Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
